My Original Art

Having been a fine art photographer for over a decade, exploring additional ways to create art feels as natural as breathing to me.

I have been experimenting with resin for some time as it is quite a tricky medium to work with. By layering various translucent and metallic pigments the resulting painting looks glassy as if you could dive right into it whilst at the same time being resistant to damage and UV light. It can take many days to achieve the layers and ultimate finish but the jewel colours of the finished pieces just keep on amazing me.

Nature is the inspiration for many of my works but recently I have been painting with vibrant acrylics too. l have so many ideas that I can't wait to share with you so watch this space!

Bio

Nikki is well established in the photographic world where she is known for her ethereal images and photography of dramatic landscapes which are sold worldwide by Getty Images.

Inspired by light, movement and colour she is exploring different ways that resin can reflect light and add depth whilst preserving an image.

As well as resin she uses mixed media, minerals, gold leaf and sometimes her own photographs to create unique artworks.

Some of Nikki's work is available for sale here and also at the Saatchi Art Store.

Affinity with the Sea

Having always lived by the sea, Nikki feels a strong connection to it - and has studios in Exmouth, Devon and in Marseille, France where she loves to recreate the myriad colours of the Mediterranean and the coastal waters of the UK.

A longtime practitioner of yoga, the parallels between waves and oceans and pure consciousness are not lost on Nikki.

“Our lives are like ripples in the vast ocean of consciousness; like waves we rise and fall, yet we never disappear, for the ocean is infinite and eternal, and a wave is nothing but that ocean.”
